Anyone made anything out of stuff they’ve got from the junkyard? I’m looking for ideas on things to make. I made this clock with a clock out of a W123 and the lamp is made from a cam out of an M5 (I didn’t pull it, it came from ebay).
I did pull the cam for this lamp, it’s out of an e34 525i, believe it was a non-VANOS m50.

How did you get the wires up? Or is the cam hollow.

I made a paperweight out of a piston/con rod. I put a piston and con rod on my desk. Boom. Instant paper weight/customer bludgeoner.

I am still on the lookout for an 80s Subaru digital dashboard to make a clock out of.

Yup, they’re hollow, I believe most BMW cams are hollow, however the one I pulled out of an M60 v8 wasn’t.

Not so much out of a junkyard, but I used a bunch of spare parts from my 1968 Mustang to make a lamp/hall tree.
From the bottom: 14" steel wheel, original 289 crankshaft, original 289 camshaft, Thrush glasspack muffler, two barrel carburetor with a Route 66 globe on top.
I welded three bent pushrods to the glasspack to use a hat/coat hangers.
I’ll have to go home to get a picture if anyone is interested.
